Australia is one of those countries that has almost the entire world on its list. It seems attractive, exotic, tropical… Especially to Europeans it seems like a distant and “unknown” place. That is why it attracts so much attention and that is why they are more and more people are considering crossing the world to visit Australia.
It is a country very different from what we are used to seeing. Its geographical location and its “recent” colonization make it a very new and very different country. Still, that gives it a charm that only Australia has.
It may be many hours of flight to get there. It may be more expensive than we think. Or it may give us a little vertigo to go to the other part of the planet. But if one thing is clear, it is that, when you decide to take the leap, you don’t regret it. We leave you a list of reasons why visiting Australia will be unforgettable.
1. Its nature, one of the reasons to visit Australia
Perhaps it is its most outstanding feature. When we think of Australia, a landscape with beaches, cliffs and mountains always comes to mind. But it has more than that. Australia is synonymous with nature.
We can say that It is a country full of contrasts. On the one hand we have the desert red that is located in the middle of the country, then the blue of its long, long beaches and, on the other, the green of its mountains. These color changes, that game that nature plays, make it a destination worth visiting, at least once in a lifetime.
One thing that attracts much of the tourism is the numerous natural parks that it has.. They are made up of mountains, forests, jungles, deserts, rivers, lakes and islands. The best known are El Urulu, the great red rock in the center of the desert center, and the Blue Mountains, in Sydney, a rock formation that will leave your mouth open.
Also, Australia is famous for its exotic fauna. Kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles take center stage. And it is that this country has an incredible diversity of fauna. And yes, you will also find spiders, of all sizes and colors, some of them even deadly. But do not worry, they are not always seen.
2. Aboriginal culture
It may be one of the most interesting cultures you will see. The way of life they lead, their customs and their activities will be very curious to you. Currently, it is a culture that represents 3% of the population. They focus mainly on the outback, which is the most desert area of Australia.
The fact of having kept them outside and marginalized from developed society has meant that their way of life is not exactly ideal. They continue to live as their ancestors lived, in terrible conditions. In fact, the aborigines were not considered “people” until 1967. Incredible, right?
But beyond this aspect, each year these aboriginal populations are visited by many people interested in learning about this ancient culture. One more reason to visit Australia, don’t you think?
3. The best routes
Along with New Zealand, Australia is, without a doubt, one of the best countries for car routes. Many people are encouraged and rent a motorhome. Carrying a kind of apartment in the car is very useful, since it gives you independence and makes your trips much cheaper.
One of the most beautiful roads you can follow there is the Great Ocean Road. It is a 250 km road along the coast of Melbourne. In it you can see all kinds of fauna. From kangaroos, koalas and possums to many types of birds.
But also, this road allows you to enjoy absolutely spectacular landscapes. Thus, at the end of the route you will be able to contemplate some imposing rock formations that emerge from the sea: the Twelve Apostles.
“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”
These three points fall short to explain all the reasons why it is worth visiting Australia. But of course, we can’t tell you everything. Now it’s your turn to enjoy it with your own eyes. Go ahead and take the leap!
