8 different but wonderful African countries

We are going to a fascinating and very different continent if we are in the north (desert) or in the south (savannah). These are the countries of Africa that you should not miss to know all its contrasts, both in ecosystems and in customs and traditions. Will you join us on the adventure?

What Africa countries is it worth visiting?

Although it is “in front” of Europe, Africa is a continent still very unknown to tourists. It is true, however, that more and more travelers choose one of its destinations for vacations or trips. Pay attention to the following countries that you should not miss on this fascinating continent:


With Kilimanjaro as the highest point in the country and in Africa and the main attraction, Tanzania has other inactive volcanoes, emblems of the entire continent. The most famous postcard includes the peak covered in snow and the herds of elephants looking for food or resting.

Located in the west of the continent, on the shores of the Indian Ocean, its territory includes the famous island of Zanzibar, chosen by most of the tourists. Its stone city was declared a World Heritage Site.

2. Morocco

It is one of the most visited countries in Africa (about 10 million tourists a year). It is northwest of the continent, and It has coastlines on the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, as well as deserts, mountain ranges with snow-capped peaks, and oases. A country, in short, of contrasts and very beautiful.

Of course, your trip to Maghreb lands must include at least one of the “imperial” cities: Marrakesh, Rabat, Fez and Meknes. In addition, you can visit Casablanca, Tangier, Essaouira and Ourzazate.

3. Egypt

We continue to the north of the continent, but in this case we travel to the east. Land of pharaohs and pyramids, with the desert as the main ecosystem and a Nile river that permeates everything, Egypt is a destination that we must visit at least once in a lifetime.

There is so much to see in what is one of Africa’s most fascinating countries. Obligatory is the visit to the pyramids of Gizah and the Valley of the Kings. Without forgetting, of course, the Karnak temple in Luxor, the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and the cities of Aswan and Alexandria.

4. South Africa

Another of the African countries that also receives a few million tourists a year. The southernmost nation on the continent stands out for its combination of Aboriginal and English cultures.

In addition to its main cities, Pretoria, Cape Town and Bloemfontein, most travelers in South Africa seek excursions and safaris to the different national parks. And it is that this African country hides spectacular landscapes.

5. Tunisia

We return to North Africa, but this time to the center of the territory, facing the Mediterranean Sea. The smallest country in the Maghreb is surrounded by a mountain range (Atlas) and almost half of its extension is made up of desert.

Among its main tourist attractions, the Antonino hot springs stand out., the medina of Sousse and the Zitouna mosque; also the Belvedere Park and the Ennejma Ezzahra Palace.

6. Kenya

To the continental west and washed by the coasts of the Indian Ocean, Kenya has a large number of parks and nature reserves. Lake Victoria, Mount Kenya and the Masai Mara region are highlights of this country.

Also, it is possible to go on safaris in various national parksincluding those of Amboseli, Tsavo East, Nairobi, Tsavo West and Hell’s Gate.

7. Algeria

Until recently, Algeria was a great unknown for Europeans, even being so close, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. But there are too many tourist attractions in this country to leave them aside.

Its places of interest include Hamma Testing Garden, the El Kala National Park or the Palais des Rais. Also worth visiting are the Ben Aknoun Park, the Al-Qal’a archaeological site of Benni Hammad and the Dar Aziza Palace.


It is an island country located in the Indian Ocean, the largest island in Africa (and the fourth largest in the world). Within its territory we can find several national parks: Isalo, Ranomafana, Amber Mountain, Ankarafantsika and Marojejy.
