The Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve is a magnificent place to visit in Chile. It offers a wide variety of activities to enjoy, from nature walks to rafting on raging rivers. If you are planning a trip to Huilo Huilo, here are some of the best things What to do in Huilo-Huilo.

1. Stay in one of the Huilo Huilo cabins

One of the best things about Huilo Huilo is being able to stay in one of its wooden cabins. There is a wide variety of cabins for rent in Huilo Huilo of different sizes and styles, so you are sure to find the perfect one for you. Some of the cabins even have saunas and Jacuzzis, so you can completely relax in the middle of nature.

2. La Leona Trail

Have you ever wanted to walk along a path so beautiful it looks like it was made for postcards? Well, if you’re in the area, we’ve got just the place for you.

Sendero La Leona is a 1 km walk that takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the beautiful Salto La Leona and its different waterfalls. Between the strength of its waters, the tranquility of its vegetation and the perfect framing of the views from its viewpoints make this point a must-see in Huilo Huilo both in winter and summer.

The level of difficulty is low, so anyone can do it, you just have to bring water and comfortable walking shoes.

3. Rafting in the rivers of Huilo Huilo

The rivers of Huilo Huilo are ideal for rafting. There are rivers for all levels, from calm rivers for beginners to raging rivers for the more experienced. If you like adrenaline, rafting is one of the best activities you can do in Huilo Huilo.

4. Fishing in the lakes of Huilo Huilo

The Huilo Huilo lakes are a paradise for lovers of fishing. There are lakes of all kinds, from mountain lakes with trout to fishing lakes with salmon. You can also fish in the Futaleufú River, which is one of the best rivers for fishing in Chile. If you like fishing, Huilo Huilo is the perfect place for you.

5. Huilo-Huilo Trail

You cannot miss the most popular trail of Sendero Huilo Huilo: the Huilo Huilo trail. It is an easy path that you can walk in about 20 minutes, and then another 15 to return. The only difficulty may arise in the long staircase at the end, which can be precarious if you are not used to walking on slippery surfaces.

Upon reaching the viewpoint, at the end of the tour, you will be able to see one of the most impressive views in Chile: El Salto de Huilo Huilo.

6. Relax in the Huilo Huilo Hot Springs

The Huilo Huilo Hot Springs are natural hot springs found in the middle of nature. You can relax in the warm waters and enjoy the beautiful views. There is also a wide variety of treatments available, from massages to beauty treatments. If you like to relax, the Termas de Huilo Huilo are the perfect place for you.

It is the perfect place to relax after a long day of hiking.

After a long day of hiking in Huilo Huilo National Park, you’ll want to stop at Termas del Lago to relax a bit. It’s 10 wooden tubs filled with 23 degree Celsius hot springs flowing from Lake Pirihueico, and it’s just what your sore muscles need.

To get there, you have to take a boat ride that lasts about 30 minutes -the duration of the trip depends on the weather conditions-, but once in the place, you can enjoy the hot springs for an hour and a half.

Also, if it is not enough, you could consider the option of renting one of the cabins with jars in Huilo Huilo. It’s the perfect combination after a full day of trail riding.

7. Andean Condor Cable Car

The Andean Condor Cable Car is a new way to experience the natural beauty of Patagonia in southern Chile.

The 15-minute drive takes you through the forest, from where you can enjoy unique views of Lake Pirehueico, Lake Panguipulli, Mocho Choshuenco Volcano, Villarrica, and Lanin.

8. Deer Forest

The Deer Forest is an amazing place for animal lovers. As its name suggests, it is a deer farm that is traversed by three-meter-high wooden walkways.

The deer roam freely and sometimes they pass very close to the walkways, and you can even see some families of wild boar in their path. Along this route, you will pass through an area where farms maintain indigenous animals such as guinea pigs and llamas.

If you are interested in knowing more about the evolution of the planet and the different native peoples of the area, you can visit the Museum of the Volcanoes on the way out.
