This is a survey carried out by EF Education First (a global education company focused on language, academic, cultural exchange and educational travel programs) and which involved 1.3 million non-native English speakers in 88 countries and regions based on their EF Standard English Test scores.
The 2018 English Proficiency Index Ranking has revealed that, for the fourth time in eight years, Sweden is in the lead, leaving the Netherlands in second place. Furthermore, this research is a clear sign that countries continue to invest and recognize the importance of English to improve the competence of its inhabitants.
