In the world of Android smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Google Pixel 7 Pro are currently the two most sought-after devices. Both phones boast a plethora of key features, but they also have distinct differences that make them unique. In this comprehensive comparison review, we will delve into their similarities, differences, and user experiences to help you decide which phone is the better choice for you.
Design and Form Factor
Google Pixel 7 Pro: A Refined Approach
Google has made some minor design changes to the Pixel 7 Pro, building upon the significant transformation ushered in with the Pixel 6 lineup. The Pixel 7 Pro has a premium build, with glass on both the front and back, and an aluminum frame connecting the two. The curved display is slightly less aggressive than its predecessor, giving the phone a more refined and modern look. However, it is the most slippery phone we’ve ever used, and its glossy finish is a fingerprint magnet.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: A Class Ahead
The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s design is an incremental upgrade from last year’s model, maintaining its large dimensions, boxy look, and massive 6.8-inch display. The glass-on-glass build, connected by an aluminum frame, features a matte finish on the back panel, which looks considerably better and helps fight against fingerprints and smudges. The S23 Ultra also has a built-in S Pen integrated into the frame, and a flattened frame for better ergonomics.
Verdict: The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra edges out the Pixel 7 Pro in design, with a more refined and mature look.

Performance and Features
Display: A Tie with a Slight Edge to the S23 Ultra
Both phones are equipped with Quad HD+ OLED panels and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. While both displays perform exceptionally well, the S23 Ultra gets a slight edge due to Samsung’s expertise with high-refresh-rate displays.
Processors: Custom Chipsets for Both
The S23 Ultra uses a customized Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, while the Pixel 7 Pro is powered by Google’s in-house Tensor G2 chip. Both phones perform well in day-to-day tasks and offer unique features that showcase their respective strengths.
Battery Life: A Clear Win for the S23 Ultra
The S23 Ultra boasts impressive battery life, with over 8 hours of screen-on time. The Pixel 7 Pro’s battery life is decent, but it doesn’t come close to the S23 Ultra’s performance in this regard.

Camera Performance: A Battle of Strengths
Still Image Photography: Pixel 7 Pro Takes the Lead
Google’s computational photography formula gives the Pixel 7 Pro an edge in still image quality. However, the S23 Ultra has more range with its added 10x optical zoom camera and digital zoom capabilities.
Video: S23 Ultra Fights Back
The S23 Ultra has made significant improvements in video capabilities, with sharpness, stabilization, and 8K footage outperforming the Pixel 7 Pro’s 4K footage.
Verdict: The S23 Ultra has a better overall camera suite, but the Pixel 7 Pro’s still image quality is a step ahead.

Price and Value: Pixel 7 Pro Offers More Bang for Your Buck
The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s starting price is $1,199, making it one of the most expensive flagship phones available. In contrast, the Pixel 7 Pro starts at $899, offering a great deal of value for a substantially lower price.
In conclusion, both the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Google Pixel 7 Pro are impressive, feature-rich smartphones with unique strengths and weaknesses. The Galaxy S23 Ultra stands out with its refined design, exceptional battery life, and robust camera suite, while the Pixel 7 Pro excels in still image photography and offers a more affordable option for consumers.
Ultimately, choosing between these two devices comes down to your personal preferences, priorities, and budget. If you’re willing to pay a premium for the top-of-the-line features, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra may be the right choice for you. However, if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option that still delivers excellent performance and image quality, the Google Pixel 7 Pro is a compelling choice.
As you weigh the pros and cons of each device, remember to consider the factors that matter most to you, such as design, camera capabilities, battery life, and overall value. By taking the time to compare these two smartphones, you’ll be well-equipped to make an informed decision and find the perfect device to suit your needs.
I was between the 2 but eventually went with the S23 Ultra.
Actually, I’m still using pixel 3 since 2018… actually, it’s my main phone! But, battery is not good at all.. but it’s okay to me! Camera is perform like a dlsr.. I like the pure android… its good… Samsung is always a good phone I like their editing functions camera functions and display and ui build quality.
Having owned and used both Devices I give the win to the pixel. Android on the pixel is more polished and fluid than on the S23, features like live transcription and Now Playing, and the best point and shoot camera on any phone, all starting at $899 before any discounts or specials.
I prefer the Google design over Samsung. The display is not flat and is not curved. The galaxy on the other hand is just basically flat with 90° corners, not good.
