The two Railway Museums, the one in Madrid and in Vilanova i la Geltrú, offer free admission to toilets and police officers during the month of August
The month of August is one of the months that most trips take place to enjoy a few days off. So the Railway Museums are preparing to welcome visitors who come to either of their two venues: the Train museumlocated in the veteran Delight Station and the Railway Museum of Catalonialocated in Vilanova i la Geltrú.
Madrid Railway Museum
in the mythical Madrid-Delicias station This interesting museum that collects the history of the railway in Spain is located. During the month of August it will open its doors Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.. During opening hours you can visit the permanent exhibition that is exhibited in the oldest train station in Madrid. But that is not all that can be seen in the Madrid Railway Museum.
In this exhibition you can admire many historical locomotives that have provided service in Spain throughout its history, with special attention to steam locomotives. But as a complement to the visit to the exhibition, visitors will be able to discover how the railway lines helped to advance cartography, thanks to the display of various maps dating from 1855 to 2017.
On leaving the museum you have to go through the shop, where you can find models, reproductions and other products that will excite train fans. In addition, the Railway Museum will offer free admission to health workers and members of the State security forces and bodies, in gratitude for their work during the pandemic.

Railway Museum of Catalonia
The visitors to Railway Museum of Catalonia It is located in one of the spaces that were used as a depot for steam locomotives. In these facilities there 13,000 square meters outdoorswhere you can see 28 steam locomotives, passenger cars and electric or diesel engines, to learn about the technology applied to rail transport.
Besides the railway exhibition you can visit the works of art that are exhibited under the title Next Stop: Art Station, which tries to convey the sensations offered by train stations. One way to offer entertainment to the residents of Vilanova y la Geltrú is an open day on August 3.
To encourage the visit, the Museum offers free parking in certain cases, discount coupons in restaurants in the city and promotions to use the trains that get there. The schedule of the Museum of the Railway of Catalonia will be from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and in the afternoon, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.with discounts for the family public and with free entrance health workers and members of the State security forces and bodies.
