Croatian Ivo Karlovic known for his powerful serves, broke the world record for service speed on Saturday, owned since 2004 by the American Andy Roddick with a ball recorded 251 km/hourreported the organizers of the competition in Zagreb.
The Croatian giant (2.08 meters), who was returning after an injury that had kept him off the court for almost two months, set the record with his serve during a doubles match in the Davis cupin the first round of the World Group.
Andy Roddick’s old record was set at 249.4 km/h, and he had achieved it in a Davis Cup semi-final, in September 2004.
