Torrelobatón: city of culture and tradition

It is a fortress that was part of a larger defensive complex, which was completed with a wall fence. The historic center of Torrelobatón is an example of a medieval town. Walking through these streets we can see some magnificent examples of Castilian architecture.

The town hall, the houses on the arcades of the square or the roll of justice are some of the elements that are worth contemplating during the visit to this Valladolid city.

The beautiful churches and hermitages of Torrelobatón

In Torrelobatón you will also find examples of religious architecture of great importance, such as the church of Santa María. This is a 15th-century Mudejar-style temple, which was renovated in the classical style in the 18th century.

Inside, two impressive discharge arches stand out that serve as support for the entire factory, but also as a division of its three ships. In addition, on the main altar there is a beautiful altarpiece from the 16th century, from the Berruguete school.

Other of the two temples that are located in Torrelobatón can only be seen from the outside, since the Temple of Santiago is currently privately owned.

Meanwhile, the church of San Pedro is semi-ruined. Furthermore, we can find a small hermitage dedicated to Holy Christ of Sorrows dating from the fifteenth century.

In Torrelobatón we also find beautiful examples of traditional architecture made in adobe. These houses belonged to the less well-off population and were made of this material and then painted in natural tones.
